Sickness and Thanksgiving

Well, I know it's late but I will say it anyway....Happy Thanksgiving! These last 2 weeks have been crazy! I had the stomach flu last week and now this week I have a cold :( I would rather have a cold then the stomach flu though!

This last Monday I did a Thanksiving dinner for about 100 people. You must be thinking I am crazy huh? Well I didn't do it alone. See I am my wards FHE chair and we decided to do a Thanksgiving dinner for FHE and combine with another ward. So I had my committee members to help me. It didn't start out great though. I got off work early so I could get to the church and start setting up. The night before we set up the tables, tablecloths, and chairs, but when we got there Monday they were all taken down! Apparently this soccer group came in to the gym to practice and took them all down! They were still there when we got there and they said they were gonna be done by 6 and would set everything up the way it was. Luckily that gave us an hour before the dinner started. Everything else went great though. We had close to 100 people show up, so it's good that I planned on that amount. I didn't get home til about 11 and my feet were killing me! It took about five times to try and eat my dinner. By the time I finished it my food was cold...oh well! LOL Good thing it's over. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and I wish you all A Merry Christmas!!!

Not Much

There really isn't much to say. Nothing too exciting has happened. I did find out that I can waive the practicum, which is also known as an internship. I wrote a letter about my work experience to the professor over the practicum and she decided that with all of my experience I can waive it. Which is great because that means I don't have to take more time off of work. Now I only have 2 more classes and I am DONE!!!! It's gonna so be nice come May :) So, yeah, not much to report. Just figured it's been awhile since I posted anything, I might as well say something. Have a great week!!!

Halloween

Well I had a nice Halloween. It all started on Wednesday with my wards Halloween Party. I went as a stressed out college student. Here is my look:

You like? Here is me with Sandee..she went as an angel....haha angel? Yeah right!!! LOL JK Sandee :)

On Halloween night I went to my sister's trunk or treat with my niece KaileyAne (she is almost 4) and my nephew Colton (he is almost 1). She went as Christine and he went as the Phantom from The Phantom Of The Opera. They were sooooo cute!!! Then after we went to this house in Uintah that makes their yard into Hogwarts from Harry Potter. It was actually really cool! The entrance was 9 3/4 and then there was a zipline kids could ride (you know like a broom). They had the hat that tells you which house you are in. I am in Slitherin :) hahaha (evil laugh). They had a wand that the kids could use and it lit up one of those deers that you put in your yard for Christmas. I don't know how they did it. Then after I went to my friend Lindsey's house and we took off to the Ogden Institute Dance. It wasn't planned so I got to her house and we were trying to figure out a costume. She actually had a hat with elf ears and a bell on it and she also had a red shirt so I went as an elf LOL It was literally put together in 30 seconds. Then we went to the dance for about an hour. She had some friends that were going so we met up with them there. We danced during the fast dances and then as soon as the slow ones came one we booked it out of there!! We didn't want to slow dance with some stranger. We were there to have fun! LOL Then we went back to her house and played guitar hero for about an hour then I went home.
Ahhh guitar hero. For those of you who haven't played it...PLAY IT!! It is sooo much fun! I wished I had it. Instead I have to go to Lindseys on the weekends LOL I played it once in when I was visiting Nikki in Phoenix and then one weekend Lindsey invited me over and we decided to play. We literally played for hours! I am guessing about 4 hours. Then I have gone over a couple more times and I am proud to say I can now play on medium! Some of you may think that medium is easy, but to me it took me awhile to get to that point. Hard is my next step!
Well I hope you all had a Happy Halloween...next holiday....THANKSGIVING!!!!!

YESSSSSSS..'nuff said

Oh my goodness I had another great night (actually 2 great nights) of concerts. On Tuesday I went to the Cobra Starship concert at The Avalon in SLC. Sandee and I won tickets to a meet and greet with them before the show. Here are some pictures from it:

Our VIP wristbands for the meet and greet

Vicky T, she plays the keytar

Ryland, he plays the guitar. He also does a character called Guy Ripley. He is a British interviewer who interviews the different bands. He is hilarious. Just go to You Tube and search for Guy Ripley and you will find a bunch of videos on him.

Nate, he plays the drums.

Alex, he plays the bass.
The singer, Gabe, wasn't there because he was "resting his vocals" because he was sick. Apparently he did something to vocal chords and the doctor told him he shouldn't be singing and should cancel the tour, but he didn't listen. So he was doing everything he could to not use his voice as much. I still think he should have came to meet his fans. You can still have your picture taken and sign something without talking to much. I was sad...oh well.
One of the other bands we meet was Forever The Sickest Kids. They are one of my FAVORITE bands. Here are some pics with few of the members:

Kent, he plays the keyboard

Austin, he plays the bass....he is my favorite because he so freakin hilarious!

Caleb, he plays the guitar. Now this is a funny story about him. Sandee has what we call "Caleb Radar". We only started this radar because she is pretty much in love with him. Anyway, we were standing there listening to one of the opening bands, either Sing It Loud or Hit The Lights, I can't remember, anyway then all of a sudden I get a nudge on my arm and it's Sandee and she pointing and smiling. I look and it is Caleb walking towards us. So of course I stop and ask to a picture with him. We was all chill about it, it was pretty cool. Then I took a pic of him with Sandee and it turned out blurry, so I asked if he could take it again and he did! Then he stood next to us and listened to the band for a couple minutes. We both were looking at each like what do we do? It was pretty cool. Then after they played they said that they would be at their merch table to come and say hi. As soon as they were off the stage it seems like everyone went back there. It was CRAZY!! We went back there and saw Austin and Kent and Johnathan (their lead singer). We didn't get a pic of Johnathan though because as soon as it was out turn to take a pic with him, their bodyguard took him away. They were being bombarded!! I was sad because we were sooooo close to take a pic with him. Next time we HAVE to no matter what! Caleb was back there too, but after we went back to our seat. Of course Sandee saw him LOL Ok back to the story. After the show we went outside and Sandee immediately saw Caleb (I'm tellin ya..Caleb radar). We just watched him and then saw that he was walking towards our car. We immediately started walking towards our car and as soon as we turned the corner there was Caleb! We went up to him and said that they get a great job and we was like "Oh thank you so much!" and then he hugged us :) It was a good night :)
Another story from that night was with Nate from Sing It Loud. We didn't know who they were because we had never listened to them before. We were sitting down waiting for the people outside to come in (because we had the meet and greet we were inside first). Anyway this guy comes up to us and he's like hey my name is Nate and I am the first band Sing It Loud. He was telling us that he was selling their cd which is normally ten but he would sell it to us for five. I happened to have exactly five dollars on me. As soon as I said that he was like it's fate! So I bought it and I told him I would only buy it if he signed it for me. So he did and he wrote "To Heather and Sandee, you two are wonderful" then he signed his name. I didn't get a pic with him though. Then after they were finished with their set they were wandering around meeting people and selling their cd. Then during Cobra Starship he came and stood right in between me and Sandee (we were right next to each other because we both wanted to see) So he watched Cobra with us and started to dance and sing. I told him they did great and he was like oh thank you so much and gave me a high five. We listened to their cd on the way home and they are actually pretty good. It was a great night :)
I know I mentioned before that I had another great concert night (it was last night), but I think I will talk about that in my next post. So check back!

Last Night=FUN!

Oh my goodness! Last night was so much fun! I went to the Rock Band Live concert at the E Center. The Cab, The Plain White T's, Dashboard Confessional, and Panic At The Disco. Last week I bought The Cab's cd because I watched one of their video's on YouTube and absolutely loved it. So all last week I kept listening to their cd. I was way excited to see them and I was even more excited when they played all four of my favorite songs. They didn't play my friend Sandee's favorite though, so we listened to it on the ride home :) Then the best two moments of the whole night...I met Alex from The Cab and Tom from Plain White T's!!!!! It was interesting because when we were going to our seat I swear I saw the piano player Alex (ok so there's 3 Alex's in the band, Alex that I met was the lead singer). Then when they started to play I knew it was him because he was wearing the same clothes. I was only a little doubtful before because he usually has blonde hair, but he was dark brown hair this time. Anyway, then after they were done they said they would be wondering around and come up and say to them. So, me and Sandee decided to look for them in the middle of each set. Right after Dashboard when we went out Sandee was making a comment about it and right when she said I saw Alex the piano player again!! I didn't want to seem like a stalker, so we didn't follow them. Plus he had some girl with him too. Oh well, it would have been nice to get a pic with him, but oh well. THEN...OH MY GOODNESS!!!! During Panic At The Disco, about halfway through, I saw Alex the lead singer in the GA crowd. I wanted so bad to go down and talk to him, but I didn't have GA tickets so I couldn't. And while I was looking down watching him, I saw the drummer from Plain White T's. I thought well if he was there maybe the rest of the band was. So I scanned the crowd and saw none other then TOM!!! Oh my goodness I could not stop wishing I could down. I was so distracted that I couldn't even pay attention to Panic (luckily I had already seen them at a previous concert). I didn't even notice that they were playing my favorite song Mad As Rabbits until halfway through because I was so distracted. And then I saw Alex walking towards us! I told Sandee to stop him and she was too nervous so I got in front of her and stopped in right in the middle of the stairs and asked for a picture. OH MY GOODNESS!!! My face is sooooo red in the pic. I will post it when Sandee gives me a cd of the pictures (she had the camera since my batteries don't hold the charge the anymore). Then I felt bad because she wanted a pic too but he walked away right after and I didn't know she wanted one. She said it was fine though and not to worry. I still feel bad Sandee :( And then after that we saw a bunch of people from the seats go down to GA. We were debating going down since we didn't have the tickets and didn't want to get caught. Then Panic was finished and we both were like we better go NOW!!! So we ran, and I mean ran, down the stairs. There was a big crowd surrounding Tom and the drummer (don't know his name..sorry) but no one was taking pictures or really talking to them, so I went up behind Tom and tapped him on the shoulder and asked for a pic. He was like SURE!! So we had someone else take the pic so we could both be in it :) (I will get the pic up when I get it). Then after I mentioned that we watched Greek and loved watching them perform. If you don't know the show it is on ABC Family and is a comedy about sororities and frat's. They sing the theme song and have been in a few episodes performing at a party scene. He said they enjoyed doing it and thought it was cool we liked it. So yeah it was a very eventful evening :) OH and on the ride down we took Legacy and if you haven't taken it before be prepared to have your windshield filled with dead bugs. They were everywhere!!! We took a pic of my car after to show how bad it was. It was certainly a GREAT night!!!!

General Conference and Vacations

I am someone who usually misses some of General Conference, but I was so proud of myself this year. I only missed the first hour of the first session! It's not that I miss it on purpose, I just usually have something going on on Saturday's so I miss it. I usually always catch the Sunday sessions. I feel that I really needed this conference. Nothing really "stuck out" to me, but I got a lot of advice that I know will help me. I did enjoy President Monson's talk about living each day in the moment. We only live once and so we should enjoy it. Lately it has been hard for me to enjoy everyday. I just am in a slump right now, with work and with school. I just don't want to go. Of course I go because I have to, but I don't think I am that productive because I don't want to be there. I think what I really need is a vacation. The last vacation I had was last year during the Summer. I went to San Diego for a week with my friend Sandee. The last one before then I can't even remember. I have been at my work for almost five years now and I have only had one vacation. I just feel bad asking for time off. Not to mention I don't get paid for time off, so I am not that motivated to take it. I am saving to pay for my tuition next semester. I only work 72 hours/week instead of 80 because of school, so that's 8 hours a week I am not getting paid. You never realize how much those 8 hours affects your bills. Especially since I am saving for tuition, my money just seems to disappear. So I guess what I am saying is that I NEED the vacation, but I CAN'T take one. Sucks huh? Oh well, I guess I should just suck it up and take President Monson's advice and find the joy in every moment.

SYTYCD and Concerts

Oh my goodness! Last night was so much fun! I went to see So You Think You Can Dance. It was AMAZING!! It is so much different seeing the dances live then on tv. They performed a lot too. The show was about 3 hours long. First they all came out and did a group dance then they introduced themselves. Twitch was the one to welcome everyone then he was like "I know someone who can get this crowd louder" then he gave the mic to Gev. For those of you who don't know Gev is from Salt Lake. So is Chelsie and Thayne. Thayne didn't actually make the top 10, but they had him and Chelsie (don't remember her last name but she was Thayne's partner) there helping to MC. They also performed the group dances and one of their pieces. That's the only time those two danced. My favorite dance was Bleeding Love with Chelsie and Mark. Again...AMAZING! That was the one dance that got the most applause and standing ovations. My favorite part was Gev in the different outfits. I guess I should explain. They had Courtney come out and introduce a few dances from different countries. Each time she had a couple of dancers come out in the "traditional dress". Gev came out each time and of course he was in a dress each time too. He was acting like nothing was wrong. You just had to be there, but he is hilarious! The comments he made literally made me laugh til my ribs hurt. I wanted to take pictures, but my batteries don't keep the charge anymore and Sandee forgot hers. So, sorry I don't have any pictures :( I can't wait til next year to see what happens! I will definitely go again!

After going to SYTYCD I got thinking about how many concerts I go to. I really go to a lot. Whether they are of bands, plays, or dances, I do go to a lot. The majority are band concerts though :) I tried to think about how many I have been to, but I can't think at the moment and I don't have that much time. My next post I will list all of the concerts I have been to since April 2007, since that is when Sandee corrupted me into listening to the bands she likes. I gave in and now I LOVE them! So check back and I will have a list :) Adios!

WHY??

Yes, yes, I know..another blog of me ranting and raving about customers. I just want to know why? Why do they feel like they can treat me like dirt? Why do they feel like they can yell at me, especially when it's not my fault? I am a human being too. I have feelings too. Can someone please explain this to me???

Now I am not saying that every customer is like this. I do have those who are all jolly when they call or come in and say how much they appreciate me and helping them (I like those customers Ü ), but then I have those who treat me like I am a piece of dirt. They think they can kick me around and that they have authority over me. I am just sick of it! And I know that every job there will be customers like that. I just want to know WHY?? Does anyone have any insight into this?

Busy Busy Busy

First, I am sorry that I have been slacking on my blogging. School started...enough said! Actually I am not as busy as I would have expected. I actually finished my keyboarding class the first day of school. I had to take a five minute timed typing test and I had to pass with 45wpm and less then 10 errors. I passed with 69wpm and 2 errors. Now I don't have to buy the book and do all the assignments! I was really happy when I saw my results :) Now I just have 3 classes this semester: Intro to LAN Networking, Exploring Multimedia Applications, and Advanced Word Processing. My LAN class I new would be easy because I have the same professor I had last semester for the prereq class. I knew how he taught his class and the last one I got almost 100% in. So, I knew what to expect. I wasn't sure how my Multimedia class was going to be, but it seems pretty easy so far. And we only have one test, the final. We mainly have class participation points. So that's pretty cool. Then my Word class is online, so I figured we would have a lot of assignments and test, but nope! He has us do the assignment to prepare us for the test, but we don't turn it in. And the assignments take about an hour to do total, and there are only 5 tests I think, so I am not afraid about that class either. My goal this semester is to get a 4.0 since all the classes are pretty easy. We shall see! :)

Another exciting thing that happened this week was finding out I can waive my practicum (which is like an internship if you didn't know). I talked to the professor who is over it and asked her what I need to do and she asked me my work experience. I told her I have been an office manager for almost 5 years and she said with my experience I could probably waive it. All I have to do is write her a letter stating everything I do at work and then she will present it to the department and they will decide if I can waive it. She seemed pretty confident that I would be able to. That would be so nice because that way I won't have another job and I will only have two classes next semester then I'm done! Now I just need to write the letter. I am a little afraid though because not all my classes have helped me in my job. I mainly work with Quickbooks and they don't have a class on that. I do make spreadsheets, and tables, and my accounting class helped, but I am afraid they will think that's not enough. I guess I will just write it and see what happens! Ü

New Haircut!

Well if you didn't notice, I got my haircut! I told you about it in my last post and I finally took some pictures. Here are some more:

This is what it was suppose to look like.

I think she cut it shorter then it was suppose to be. I try to straighten it, but my never does what I want it to do. I'm getting use to it though. Let me know what you think!

Catch Up!

Hey! Sorry it's taken me awhile to post something. It seems like every night I have had something going on and we have been to busy at work so I haven't been able to post anything there. So, let me tell you whats been going on. I went to see Brian Regan at Thanksgiving Point on August 15. He is freakin hilarious!!! Seriously, if you haven't seen or heard of him, you should check him out! I went and saw the new movie House Bunny. It was pretty funny. I don't think it is one I would buy though. Lets see, what else?

School started today. Well, I don't have a class til tomorrow, but I did start my online class today. Tomorrow after I have my first class I am going into the lab to take a keyboarding test. If I pass then I am done with that class! I sure hope I pass. I need to pass with 40 wpm with 10 or fewer errors, or 35 with 5 or fewer. I took some typing tests online today and my average was 70 wpm. Its the whole 10 or fewer errors though that scare me. I do backspace often LOL.

I cut my hair short! I will post a pic when I get one. My batteries in my camera are dead, they don't keep a charge, so I need to buy some new ones. I did it on Saturday and I am still getting use to it. I think it will take me awhile, but everyone so far has liked it. Not sure if they are just saying that, but I haven't gotten a bad reaction yet.

I was suppose to go to my dad's up in Montana this weekend for Labor Day, but it got cancelled. With gas being so high, my sister and brother in law can't afford their portion and I can't pay for all of it, so we had to cancel. It sucks because it's been months since I have seen him and the rest of the fam. They are coming down Sept 27 though for my cousins weddding. I guess I will just have to wait to see them then.

I think that's about it. I know I have been busy, but nothing exciting to post. Keep checkin back to see my new haircut and see how school is going. I gotta get ready for FHE. If you didn't know I am my wards FHE chair, so it's my calling to be there! Those of you going back to school...good luck! And those of you who aren't...good luck with whatever you are doing! :)

Mount Timp. Caves

This last Saturday I hiked Mt. Timp. up to the caves. Yes, you read right. I was told that it wasn't that bad, only 1 1/2 miles and that it wasn't steep...HA HA HA! It was hard! Well, I guess I should say it was hard for me. I am very proud of myself though. I wanted to turn around and go down so many times, but I didn't give up! My calves were killing me, I had a pain in my right shoulder, and I only had one water bottle, I made it though! I did have some help. We combined with the Northridge Branch and their branch president stayed back with me. He even massaged my calves, which by the way helped a lot! Thank goodness for President Smith! Then when I had just a couple of zig zags yet (if you have been there you know what I mean) I had some of my friends come down to walk up with me! They were cheering me on and pushing me up the hill. I tell ya, having people supporting ya really helps! Once we got to the top we took a tour through the caves. It was interesting. I wish the tour was longer though. Took me 1 1/2 hours to hike to the top and the tour was only about 45 min. I am not sure if it really was that long since I wasn't looking at my watch, but it wasn't more then an hour I know that. After the hike and tour we went to the Mayan at Jordan Commons. It was good. Then I came home and slept. I forgot to mention that we were suppose to meet at 6am, so I was going to pick my friend up at 5:45, well that didn't happen. I get a voicemail at 6 from Liz asking where I was, and I had just woke up. I actually didn't hear my phone ring when she called, just when it went off that I had a voicemail. My friend Lindsey also texted me and I didn't hear it. I don't know what happened, but my clock said 3 when it was actually 6. So I was rushing and got to the church at 6:30 just as they were leaving. So, I was pretty tired. I slept when I got home. Here are some pics from the hike:

Here is a picture of the city of Lehi

Here is a picture of a truck on the road. It's the red dot.

As you can see, we were pretty high up. These pictures weren't taken from the top. We were going down the mountain and decided to take some pictures. Good thing I am not afraid of heights anymore!
